I'd like to run some applications as services, so they start when Windows is loading, even before the login screen appears. This is good to protect the computer running apps like firewalls even without a user logged in.

    Thanks

You don't need to buy anything, just right click my computer, manage, services and applications, services, bingo bango your there. Then you can manually or automatically start services or just disable the services.

I can't load that link with my browser (Opera). http://validator.w3.org/ says: "This page is not Valid XHTML 1.1! ; Result: Failed validation, 87 Errors"

I know how to start and stop servies, I want to edit them and i prefer not to mess with regedit if there's a program to do the work for me.

?????? dont know what to say, Opera does have some site compatibility issue, but usually it was the site's fault for not coding with standard as Opera understands it (ff has it also, but thx goodness for the ie extension - actually i m running minefield-ff3 and had no issue even w/o the extension)

there r loads of programmes out there, if u r willing to pay. One of many

    cheers ...

Opera works fine, it's MS fault. Why isn't there any free programs to do it? There's a lot of freeware utilities, and this one shouldn't be so complex to do.

what apps are you trying to run? for your firewall there should already be a service for it.

I want to load RMClock as computer service, so even if the computer reboots while I'm away, the "performance on demand" cooling system will work at the login screen.
