yeah, like the title says, what program should i use to check for RAM problem. and how do i use it?

You can run something like Memtest.

Hi,
Memtest86+ - http://www.memtest.org/ (free)
- OR -
Memtest86 - http://www.memtest86.com/ (commercial)
For either one, download the ISO, burn it to a CD, and when you boot, set it to boot from CD. It should present you a menu. Just select the largest/most comprehensive number of tests and let it go. Last time I ran MT86+, I let it run overnight for ~8-12 run-throughs. Sometimes, it takes multiple run-throughs to find RAM problems.

Visit the passmark website, download their burnintest. There's a free trial and it should test memory, CPU, GPU, HD, ...

is the free one reliable? is it possible that the software broke my computer? (unless its already failing...) -
** Memtest86+ V1.70 (01/14/2007) **
Download - Pre-Compiled Bootable ISO (.zip)
is this the one i should download?
i have a very new pc, just been built a month ago. -
Yes, Memtest86+ is completely stable and safe to use. However, if your RAM is already going bad, it could make it worse (through the intensive tests that it will run). This won't change anything on your hard-drive though. Plus, this program shouldn't void your warranty.
Here are the steps:
1. Download http://www.memtest.org/download/1.70/memtest86+-1.70.iso.zip
2. Unzip the file.
3. Use a program like Nero to burn the .iso file to a CD.
4. Put the CD into your CD-ROM drive.
5. Reboot the computer.
6. When the boot screen comes up, depending on your computer, go into the BIOS or a Boot-up selection screen.
7. Set the computer to boot from the CD-ROM drive.
8. Once it boots up, follow instructions on-screen (if I remember correctly, it will automatically start running tests as soon as it boots up, so you don't even have to do anything).

Or use the passmark test and do it all in Windows

i hate trial software, they create a registry entry that can't be remove.
