My partner, who currently resides in another state, is absolutely hopeless when it comes to computers. My efforts to guide him over the phone are exercises of the most extreme frustration and exhaustion. (one time it took 5 hours for him to figure out how to print one page.)
I would like for us to download a program that allows me to control his computer. I am here at his place for about 1 hour more.
Can anyone recommend a program?

If both computers are running Windows XP or Vista, just use built in Remote Assistance.
-
Yes, we both have XP. I can't find Remote Assistance. Where would I find it?
-
NM -- I found it. Thanks!

Try TeamView

A very easy program to use, give it a try.
Good Luck!
EDIT: Postet at same time... -
I never knew programs like this existed. I will try it out.
Might come in handy some day... for what I do not know.

it is something i've known about for a long time and do you know..... I've never thought of using it. Just the other month my mother in law has got a new laptop and she's never off the phone asking about how you do this, and how do you do that.
So this is something I will be definately setting up.
Cheers.

i'm a teamviewer user myself, too. it's awesome. never got remote assistance to work reliably.
-
I'm adding a vote for TeamViewer.
-
I've used teamviewer myself, but how's Crossloop in comparison? Worth a try?
-
I recommend Logmein for it's ease of use.
-
I use CrossLoop, works wonders.

Past employer uses Timbuktu ( http://www.netopia.com/software/products/tb2/)

Team viewer or remote assistance works well.
