Hey all,
I've been having a weird issue that's only come up a few days ago on my Vista install. Whenever I boot the computer (not resuming from Sleep), I get a folder named "Programs" on my desktop. The folder contains no files, and I can delete it, but it pops up again when I restart. If I leave it alone and restart the computer again, it just stays there.
This is more of an annoyance than an actual problem, but I'd still like to get rid of it somehow... I tried searching Google, but couldn't get anything useful (came up with tutorials on how to put program shortcuts on the desktop, etc.) Microsoft's Support site (including Knowledge Base) had nothing either, so I was just wondering if anyone here had an idea.
EDIT: OK, after a bit of poking around, it seems that an empty "Administrative Tools" folder gets created inside the "Programs" one now. I can also trigger this creation by opening Task Scheduler, then closing it.

Hey,
Sorry to bump up a really old post - but I have found that I have the same exact problem. And after much Googling, this is the only result I have found...
Have you been able to fix your problem, and if so how?
This started recently for me on my computer which runs Vista. I would really appreciate any help as to how to fix it. -
+1 to this problem. I just haven't bothered about it. lol

I may have a solution. I was experiencing a similar problem and found a solution: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=271249
Try right clicking, going folder properties, under the location tab click "Restore Default." See if the location is something other than the desktop and click OK. Move and replace and files....

I read through the thread, and my problem came to be exactly like yours did. First the folder appeared in All Programs, I deleted it, and then it kept reappearing on my desktop.
Luckily, I was able to do a System Restore yesterday and it fixed the problem. But I'm sure your solution would have fixed it, too.
Thanks!
