Hello everyone. This is my first time posting here, since I rarely have problems with my computer. But lately it’s been driving me crazy.

I own a P4 3.4 Clevo laptop with a ATI Mobility 9700 video card. Lately I have been having this problem where my computer seems to slow down immensely and I have to re-install my video drivers.

I’ve tried the ATI drivers from their website, and now the OMEGA drivers, but every once in a while the same problem comes up and nothing seems to be working. I’ve tried System Restore, and that doesn’t even seem to work. The only thing that works is re-installing the drivers.

The weird thing is that it also sets my desktop appearance back to “Windows XP Style” (I usually have it on “Windows Classic Style). Also, I work a lot with video, and I’ve noticed that the drivers usually go awry when I view compressed Windows Media Video files.

    Here are my specs:

    Windows XP Professional, SP 2
    P4 3400 Mhz
    Phoenix Technologies LTD 6.00 BIOS
    60 GB Hard Drive
    Mobility 9700

Below are my hardware conflicts, which I’m not sure how to resolve…

Have you tried the latest Catalyst Mobility 5.10 drivers? They are very stable - I'm running them on both of my machines - a Radeon 9800XT and my laptop's X700. Haven't come across any issues. You can get them from DriverHeaven.net.

I'd suggest reseating the RAM, that might resolve something. Also, try updating your BIOS. That could solve a lot of those USB problems that are in your description.
