Hello, I recently purchased an Asus open-box notebook whose model qualified for a free Win7 upgrade. However according to the online serial # lookup the upgrade has already been pre-registered for by the previous owner. Do I have any recourse in this matter? Since the previous owner returned the notebook, they no longer have any right to the Win7 upgrade yes? Does Asus/Microsoft have any special procedures to handle such cases or am I basically screwed out of the upgrade? Thanks for any info!

Call up Asus. Take a picture of the serial number with the receipt beside it. They'll bulge.
