I was thinking that which style does people prefer the most.![]()
-
Out of all those, classic followed by silver.
My favorite is Royale blue which im using now. -
uummm...none of the above...i like my current theme
-
XP defaults are booooooring. This is a really ancient screen shot of my favorite theme (please note, I haven't used IE in about two years.... don't hold the quicklaunch icon against me!)

Maybe you should have put "none" and "other" too. I use Microsoft Royale. Much better than any of the default.
Cheers, -
xp silver here!
-
IKOVAC,
I tried microsoft Royale! It's cool. -
I use the XP silver
-
what's microsoft royale? it sounds purple./
-
classic - the most out-of-the-way one I know
-
It's a desktop theme created by microsoft NZ. It's free and it's better than xp defaults. THanks to Ikovac for letting me know the existence of this theme.

I thought about "other" option, but I thought the question like which "XP" default style. Sry. Next time will make a bit better poll then
-
Only the best. And free. And fast. That is what I like.
BTW I wanted to upload the darn thing, and limiter was set to 19kb zip. It was already 1am overhere and I went to sleep, but qohelet did it for me... Thanks!
Cheers, and I hope we didn't spoil the poll? My apology if I did. -
No, everything is ok
-
On my machine, themes service is disabled, so I am using the old style, which doesen't use any resources.
When I am installing Windows XP on other peoples machines, I usually install Royale, as it is, as all others said, the best Windows XP theme...

i like how in aim on that royale screenshot there are 6 people in the "my love" group. we got a playa here?
-
Royale looks great, I just d/l'd it and it's so much nicer to look at than the regular XP blue!
-
Silver is the only one that won't make your eyes bleed.
-
Metamorphical Good computer user
I keep it XP silver. But I have the start menu set to classic view.
-
I like Royal Blue, followed by Olive Green.
-
Classic all the way.
-
3rd time voting for the silver (yes 3 times)
-
WELCOME! -
-
I just tried out the royale style and it's pretty nice. If only it had more color themes.
-
I should have minimize my aim...harhar
-
Silver for me! However my laptop I use the media center style... Work and home desktop I use silver...
-
I haven't done it on my laptop yet, but I use Webshots for my desktop. Every day I have a different pic(or theme of pics) on; ie. winter pics in the winter, nature and wildlife. Then I just change the appearance settings. I don't have a screenshot because I am on the laptop right now. If you never heard of it, I think the address is webshots.com
-
I prefer AeroGlass theme, then the portableone theme then blue. At first I wanted to change my theme to be like OS X (DOn't say it, I have a mac, its just hard to be at school where they ask that you familarize yourself with Windows), but I din't really like how it wasn't OS X. So I found Aeroglass and its awesome
-
Even though boring, I choose XP style silver. Slightly better than XP default-blue-
-
I go for silver (second time)
-
After patching the dll, and trying everthing - favourite being "Sentinel" - I went back to classic. Fast and simple. Lke me...
-
I like the Royale theme that's posted in this thread...
One thing that bugs me about the Royale theme though, the Status Bar in Internet Explorer (don't use it much, but still) seems to be missing a "gap" on the right side, I know I'm probably being anal, but does this happen with anyone else? Miniscula thing, but it irks me quite a bit.
I could post a screen shot if necessary... -
XP Silver!
-
If you download TGT's Theme Editor you can fix that your self pretty easily, but an easier option is to not use Internet Explorer.
If you post a pic of it I could probably try fixing it. -
I was using the Silver theme style, but after seeing this thread I decided to go the custom route and downloaded the theme royal whatever it is like it is on this thread.
WOW I'm impressed, great theme and I also customized my desktop with different icons and a docking thingy like the MACs.
I'm happy now as things seem to be loading up quicker too.
Does that theme use Windows Classic as its base? I think it does, that would explain the quicker loading times of certain options and things.
Cheers,
Mike -
Ha.
Mike, I'm glad you like it! Royale is simply the best - I tried a lot and always came back to it.
Fast and good looking.
Cheers, -
If I was stuck with only those options, I would do silver. All the other default themes make my eyes bleed.
But the actually theme I use CodeOpus (blue). Very simple skin with a bit of splash. -
XP Blue. I like Royale, but I use Word on a daily basis and like how the entire menu/toolbar is blue under XP Blue's default theme rather than just the very top in Royale.

Some call it the Media Center look. I like it since it always works and doesn't take up another process or two like Windows Blinds does (which seems to die on my computers after about 6 months of use it'll start making errors and not showing images).
-
i choose NONE, windows suck bigtime, check out my anti-windows thread
-
i use silver, or at least used to. now i have style xp.
-
you guys are right, royale is awesome.
-
i think there is one style wasnt mentioned/missed. its the default setting when you choose adjust for the best performance (or something like that). i like that one. simple and uncluttered. how to set it... go to:
system properties > advanced tab > settings under performance > adjust for best performance
its also the default setting for windows server 2003.
later,
sky -
it's called Classic...
-
later,
sky -
i use classic, though with a custom color theme using 3d color changer;
allows much more detailed color scheme setup than the default windows
configuration. -
i use the silver xp theme
-
I never really thought of myself as liking bells and whistles too much...
But then I do enjoy sharp, classy looking desktops. So that turned me on to the world of skinning and visual themes. Combine a few different themes with desktop sidebar, and you have my style. Aside from transparency, the theme itself uses no more resources than regular XP's.
