I was uner the impression that Vista (I run Ultimate) used al available RAM for prefetch etc.

I'm currently runing a deep scan for spam-wear and only useing 1.17Gb RAM out of 4Gb.

I have noteiced that I don't seem to ever use more than 1Gb or so whatever i'm doing?

    Is this normal behaviour?

I have stopped indexing completely and system restore/shadow copy. I have also followed Les's excellant guide to Vista tips etc.

Just curious really as a don't seem to have performance issues...

Superfetch only guesses what you will be running and pre-caches it n stuff. Its not necessary it'll use up all of the RAM. It depends alot upon the tasks you run, which affects Superfetch's caching work....If you're not running memory-intensive tasks very often, then 4GB RAM wasn't necessary for you.
