I was wondering if anyone knew how to or knew of any extensions/add-ons that could do this. I've looked on the FireFox website and didn't see anything.
Is there a way to always bring up a certain page in FireFox when it gets minimized. In other words, if I minimize FireFox, regardless of what page I was on, I always want gmail to be the first tab that I see.
I couldn't figure out a way to do this.
Thanks

for the other thing simply go to tools, options, general, and either enter the url for the page you want to see when you open firefox or press the button to use the page your on as the home page. -
That's not really what he asked for... But i don't know any way of doing that as of yet.
I'm sure an extension could be made to do that, but I wouldn't know how. -

yeah i wasn't sure exactly what he meant and that was the closest thing i could think of. i don't really see what the purpose of having gmail pop up everytime everytime you restore a window, which is what it looks like he's trying to say.

You don't need an extension for that.
Just go to Tools on the menu bar at the top of the browser.
Look at Options...
Find "Main", and just change the home page to GMail's homepage, and select "When Firefox Starts: Show my home page"
And by minimize I think you mean "Tabs", the little boxes just above the web pages, right? -
I have an urge to check Gmail all the time too. But I'd just bookmark GMail into the Toolbar, then mid-click on it and it'll open it new tab, refreshed then quick chk and del tab.

Thanks for the answers. I appreciate the help, but let me try to explain it a bit clearer.
It mostly came up b/c during a conversation at work b/w myself and a co-worker. Firefox has an extension that allows you to change the titles of tabs so that if someone looks over your shoulder or is sitting at your computer and you don't have time to close out the tab, you can show any text you want. For example, I have mine set to like NYTimes.com. Great feature and great against wandering eyes. It's not like I do anything shady at work, but don't need people to see when I'm on ESPN or checking my personal mail, etc.
So I was wondering if we could take it one step further where if you mimize Firefox (the entire window) or you click to another program (i.e. Firefox is not the focus on your screen), is there a way so that you can set a certain webpage in case someone clicks on the tab or if you click to it while someone is looking over your shoulder, it comes up as NYTimes.com or something like that.
While not the most useful feature, I was more curious than anything if something like that could be done. I'm sure some program could be written, but just seeing if anyone knew of one.
Thanks again for the responses though. -

Tab Randomizer https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/2987/
^ is as close as it gets, after searching through the extensions I'd have to agree with iza, there isn't one. But I'd have to admitt, keeping people from reading whats on my screen is nearly impossible when they're behind/beside you. Its almost guaranteed sometime during the session they'll be peaking at your screen. Fake random tabs is good enough, this is recommend you could do. Keep NYTimes opened in a tab, and use the tab randomizer extension, then if you think someone is reading you hit Ctrl+1 or whatever position the NYTimes tab is (just drag it to 1 to make it simpler) and it'll swap the to that tab.
Personally, I think your second idea of making fake tabs if someone clicks on it does more harm than goodAwfully mischievous

I'm 98% sure an extension for that does not as of yet exist; but you might be able to request someone make it at the mozillazine forums or somewhere. It seems like it would be fairly simple to make; I would try if I had any programming knowledge whatsoever...

I agree. If I knew anything about programming aside from "Hello World," I'd give it a try. It would just have something to do with tab focus or something like that I think. My co-worker is a programmer, but I feel bad asking him to take time out of his work day to create this...
