    Please clarify some things:

DVDs have a resolution of 1024x768, correct?

If a program that runs at 800x600 screen resolution, what is the rationale of getting a screen that has a higher resolution, say WSXGA or WUXGA? The screen resolution is dependent upon the software resolution, right? The PC will not extrapolate to improve resolution, correct?

The program will run at whatever the resolution is. DVD resolution is 720x480. Higher resolution screen allow you to see more of the screen. They are sharper and offer bettery detail.
