I just picked up an HP 6000t with Vista Home Basic. Every time I try and do something a window pops up from Vista asking me if I really want to proceed to the file/program. Is there anyway to turn this feature off?

Yes, there is a way to turn it off, but it is a security feature that helps protect you in Vista. If you deactivate it, you'll be less secure. It's annoying, but it's the biggest thing Vista has going for it in security measures.
