I'm thinking of Dual booting vista and xp.
I have read the guide from http://apcmag.com/5023/dual_booting_xp_with_vista
and i think i'm ready.
However my question is will i still have access to the files i have on Xp. I have 10gb partitioned for it. Is this not nearly enough?

If you Dualboot your system you will not encounter problems accessing your files that you have in xp. This is because Vista can read and write to fat32 and ntfs partitions. -
that is fantastic news. Thanks. as long as i can get my files i'll be happy. I don't really care about apps just files.
Rep is in order for you my friend.
One last question. How big is Vista gb wise? -
Microsoft recomends (possibly even requires) at least 15GB of free space. I'd give it at least 40GB if you can, if not 20 at a minumum.

holy schnikes!

I remember trying out Vista a while ago; the OS itself took 15GB... I don't know how MS came up with 40GB.
-
I guess i'll put 30gb towards vista. 15 for thing and then another 15 for my crap and any vista games
lol Halo 2 here i come.
-
40GB is just their recommendation for a new computer with Vista. 15GB for the OS, and more for other apps you may load. Personally I recommend 160GB or more, but I download a lot!

well i'm mainly gonna be running xp. I just want some space for a few progs and i just wanna dink around with it.
-
Dual booting here, no problem. I would give Vista's partition apprx. 15GB and leave a "Common Apps" partition for programs both XP and Vista.
