Hey guys, Im about to upgrade from vista to windows 7 but I was wondering since windows 7 isn't officially out yet, they don't have programs made specifically for windows 7. so what do i do? use programs that are made for vista? do vista programs work on windows 7? thanks

yes. just like before, windows programs normally always work on the new windows version. with obvious nonworking apps all the time, too. that's the whole compatibility talk and trash you can read about everywhere.
everything that works in vista should work in win7. they're so similar. -
Windows has what is called "backwards compatibility." This means that the code is written to allow for many applications made for earlier versions of Windows to properly work in this version. Microsoft has worked hard to keep staple applications functional throughout many interations of Windows over the years.
A high degree of general use applications from even years ago should run fine in Windows 7. -
You do realize that you'll have to buy the retail version of Windows 7 by March of next year, or roll back to Vista (which there's no easy way to do), right? And either way, you'll almost certainly have to do a clean install, you won't be able to upgrade from the RC to the full version from what I've been reading. Upgrading to the Windows 7 RC on your primary/only PC isn't really recommended... that is a secondary or testing system you're talking about, right?

That's why one should dual-boot. then just get rid of the partition when w7 RC expires.
