    1) When can we expect seeing notebooks with vista installed, in particular asus notebooks?
    2) Since the none basic editions of vista are a little pricey will we see a price increase in notebooks with vista, will the same notebooks out today be a little more with vista installed?
    3) Looking at these link http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/getready/editions/default.mspx why doesn't home basic and premium have remote desktop checkmarked, is it talking about something better or it won't have remote desktop at all like xp home does?

No, looks like it won't have remote desktop.

Well, there's a reason why everyone are saying the Home versions are a joke... ;)

Vista is going to be launched "for real" in a month or so. Expect notebooks to have it installed (at least optionally) pretty much as soon as the OS + reliable drivers are available.

As for the price, hard to say. Vista is ridiculously expensive, but OEM prices are a lot different. It may be a lot cheaper to buy the OS with a notebook. But yeah, if you want the high-end (= non-crippled) versions, I'd assume you're going to have to pay more than is currently the case.

    1) No idea about ASUS, but they should be on board for early-mid February like everyone else.

    2) The pricing really hasn't changed much at all. People compare Retail Vista Ultimate pricing to OEM XP Professional pricing and draw incorrect conclusions. The OEM pricing for Business, Home Premium, and Home Basic Vista editions correspond very closely to the OEM pricing of Pro, Media Center, and Home XP editions. There shouldn't be a price increase for a similarly spec-ed system because of the OS. That said, the REALLY cheap notebook deals won't run Vista, so the lowest priced Vista notebook will be higher.

    3) Vista Home versions, like XP home, don't allow for being the host (remote) computer for a remote desktop connection. You can still use these machines to connect to a system running XP Pro, or Vista Business, Enterprise, or Ultimate edition. See here.

    Hope that helps.
