    Hi there

I'm dual booting vista and xp and I've got firefox on both, problem is on my vista version of firefox I have loads of bookmarks that are not in IE and I'd like to be able to port them across to my xp version of firefox.

Is this possible and how would I go about doing it - I've tried the import export options but that didn't work?

I've tried a google search but my search-fu is weak so I haven't been able to find anything helpful yet...

Thanks in advance for any help/advice :)

The bookmarks in Firefox are saved as an html file. So if you are copying "from firefox to firefox", go to

    C:\Users\[USERNAME]\appdata\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\

Click on the folder for your profile (there's usually only one) and copy the "bookmarks.html" file.

Winkey+R, type "%appdata%", go to the folder named "Mozilla", go to "Firefox", go to "Profiles", click on the folder there, now you'll see a webpage named "bookmarks", copy it to a flashdrive and then when you get to xp do the same thing, but paste the "bookmarks" webpage there.

Ohhh so that's how you do it, I was looking in program files\mozilla... rather than appdata.

Cool thanks. That'll be very helpful :)

    Thanks, done it.

If I do need advice I usually look on google first, but seeing as my search-fu is weak I usually don't find an answer but you guys here know eveything so I usually get things sorted with the very helpful advice from here, and it's very much appreciated, if I could buy you all a beer I would. :)

BTW is there anyway to close your own threads here - I just posted one about problems with radio streams that I've just solved by accident by installing the k-lite code pack, I forgot I needed that doh...

Just PM a moderator to lock it for you, or just post in it saying that the problem is fixed and how you fixed it and people should know not to post anymore.

Couldn't the OP also install something like FoxMarks addon on both the versions of FF and use the same FoxMarks account, so that everytime he worked in one version and changed any of the bookmarks, they would automatically sync with the other version the next time he used it?

Good idea but I don't necessarily want them to auto sync, and I'd rather have as little installed as possible.

Thanks for the tip though, I'll keep it in mind for the future if I decide I need it :)
