I already have the regular player for watching multimedia tutorials. But the other day I randomly clicked on the Pro version and saw some fantastic HD footage. Beyond the dazzle of the HD content, would it be a waste to spend the $29 for the PRO version?

WMP can play HD video. Quicktime pro allows you to encode video and such. If you just want a player, there's no reason to pay anything.

Didn't they get rid of the Pro option in the latest update of quicktime?

If you can afford 29$ on such a thing there should be no problem. Quick Time PRO is really good and I use it myself.

There are plenty of great players and codec packs out there that can handle HD content. Personally, I think QuickTime Pro is a waste of money.

Another convenient feature of pro, back in the day (about five years ago was when I last had a copy), was that it allowed easy downloading of media embedded in websites. This can be achieved through other means, but the one click downloading was nice.
Quick Time PRO?
