    Hi guys

So I just bought Nero 8 (can you believe the price of it - £50, shocking!).

Anyway I've tried authoring a DVD from some AVI files I have and when I write it to the HDD all it writes is a Video_TS folder with .ifo, .bup and .vob files.

Now the sound is there but I've noticed most DVDs have an Audio_TS folder as well.

So if I burn the DVD to disc will it then work in my DVD player/my DVD drive on my laptop with sound as well as video?

Thanks in advance for any help/advice :)

The audio of a video is included on the .vob file

Sorry still a little unclear, will it still work on an ordinary DVD player even though the AUDIO_TS folder isn't there?

Should I just have selected the burn to disc option rather than writing it to the hard disk? - I've had a look and I can't see an option to burn the VIDEO_TS folder that is on my hard drive as a DVD, only the contents of it. I.E. the .vob, .bup and .ifo files.

yeah those are the 3 files u need....i remember after converting via winavi i used to burn with nero express....and it requires all the .vob, .bup and .ifo files....write the dvd via nero express and it ll itself make a new audio_ts folder in the dvd....its fine if u save the image to the hdd....!!
the audio_ts folder normally has nothing in it....i dunno why it is even there in the 1st place.. :p
if u r a bit unsure get DVD+ or -RW and play around with them....even if u mess it up u can still reuse the dvds....!! and be sure to have the format right to PAL or NTSC or they might not work.... :D

Cool. Just thought because the AUDIO_TS folder wasn't there it wouldn't burn it and the DVD wouldn't work.

I'll do a couple of test burns over the weekend.

    Thanks for the advice.

Beware though, a lot of hardware DVD players can't handle rewriteable disks. And if you want quality conversions, don't count on Nero to provide them. I'd use FAVC or DVD Flick and burn using ImgBurn. These progs are totally free.

Thanks guys. I did a test burn and it worked beutifully.

I'm gonna stick with Nero, it's pretty good for what I want.

Now all I need to do is work out how to put thumbnails of each AVI file into the menu so I can click on those to run each video...

Anyone know of a site that has a "how to create professional looking menus in Nero" type of tutorial?

You should be able to fully customise the DVD menus using Nero Vision.

Yup....Nerovision provides the option of fully customizing the DVD menus....
the option is available when you press next after selecting the files to be converted....and then u could probably use the 'Smart3D' Menu....which has kind of 6 slots available to show thumbnails of the encoded videos....
This is the manual for Nerovision 4.0 but I think most of the options should be the same.... Nerovision Manual

Yeah I knew nero vision was the one to use, I did a basic text menu for the DVD I burnt, just wondered if there was a easy to follow "how to". Oh well that manual will be handy - I'll have a play around.

    Thanks guys. Much appreciated :)
