Since my laptop has 2 hard drives, I was thinking about moving everything to one drive, then formatting the empty one to use 512 byte blocks instead of the standard size of 4KB. I think this would save space down the road for the OS as smaller files won't end up using 4KB of space if they're only maybe 20 bytes.
Are there any disadvantages of doing this for an OS drive that I should know of?

512byte blocks make a larger file table. 4K is generally a good compromise. The only reason to use smaller blocks is if you're going to have a ton of files smaller than 4K. Considering that you can't even save an empty Word document to be under 4K, I would say that it's a non-issue and will probably waste more space and perform slower with the 512K blocks than with the 4K blocks.
