Hi all,
I just bought a new laptop and while going through stuff for my old computer, and I discovered I had an old copy of Office for XP. It was the 2002 version of the software and for some reason I had never used it.
So my question, basically, is is there a significant difference between the 2002 and 2003 versions of the software that would justify me going for the newer version?
Thanks.

I would just use the 2002 version and save yourself the money of getting a new one. esp with MS slowly working on the new version of office.

Yeah just use the old version. It will help you save some money.
Plus they have most of the same features.

I'm with the other two - just keep the old version. I think any of the new features you probably wouldn't use very much for daily use.

No real difference. Half the features in Office are never used by the general public anyway.

2003 have pretty colours for buttons
But ya use 2002

Bottom line: I agree with everyone else, you can do fine with Office XP -
Yup, install it. Then do the Office Updates via MS web site. That will bring it close to 2003 version and close any potential security holes. If you never installed it the activation should go fine. If the activation tells you no go just call the MS activation toll-free number and talk to a MSofty in India for activation number. They will grill you a bit but just tell them it is a re-install for a new system! Good luck.

Thanks for your help

I use 2003 at work and 2002 at home. As an individual user there is no difference that I can notice.
I am told that for network administrators life is easier with 2003, but I don't have direct experience of that. -
outlook 2003's pst files are incompatible with any other version of outlook. learned that the hard way when trying to go from office 2003 to office 2002 during a reformat/reinstall.
