Last night, I had installed Win 7 RC1 on my new lenovo Y530. It has Core 2 Duo CPU T6400 @ 2 GHz. I am wondering if I can enable Virtualization on my new laptop. I also installed the windows Intel Processor Identification Utility and on the CPU Technologies tab, I found Intel Virtualization Technology is not supported by my processor. Can anyone confirm this? I appreciate it.

I couldn't find primary source info on the T6400 regarding VT (that is, from Intel's website), but Wikipedia states that the T6400 is a Penryn 2-M chip, none of which have VT. However, the next family of CPUs, Penryn 3-M, does have this technology.

EDIT: it is interesting to note that some virtualization programs (such as VirtualBox) actually suffer decreases in performance when VT is enabled on Intel or AMD CPUs. Software implementations of virtualization hardware does work far better in some cases. Whether this applies to MS's implementation of a virtual XP within Windows 7 would be interesting to know.

Too bad, I thought I was gonna use XP applications in VM mode. Is there a way we can enable VM?
