Are there re-writeable DVDs to use for making large back-ups of data, (music, videos, pictures)?

And if so, have you found them reliable?

The reason I ask, is, when I used a re-writeable CD to back up the above, about the 2nd or 3rd back-up I recieved a "DIsk Error" and the BU became toast.

Since non re-writeable CDs are so cheap, it wasn't a big, except now I have 20+ BU CDs laying around, with only 650M on each one, and blah, blah, blah ...

So ... I thought maybe just 1 Re-writeable DVD(5 Gig) BU, once a month, and then re-write the next month over the old one :)

    Thanks
