I have noticed on opera for years that it ahs this RSS feed thing and i don't really understand what RSS really does and is used for. I googled around a bit and still don't get its usefulness. I do a lot fo news reading and was wondering if that would be helpful.

It lets you take news feeds from any RSS-compatible website and put it all together so you can read it in one environment.

    Example:

    You like reading slashdot.org
    You like reading hardocp.com
    You like reading ABCnews.com
    You like reading ScienceDaily.com

But you don't like going to four different websites.

You can subscribe to the RSS feeds from these sites and view them in a single page. Internet Explorer for example can act as a feed reader.

I don't know much about RSS besides what I said. I do know it's intended for *feeds* of news, and not for single articles.

A plain old Bookmark is better for single articles you want to refer back to.

what i meant was from reading in the RSS page would it be easy to save a bookmark within the feed or would i have to go to original page to bookmark it...i could see it saving me a good 5-10mins a day maybe...possibly if the bookmarking isn't time consuming.

I guess some time i'll have to take the effort to fiddle around with it

RSS is awesome. The most used app on my phone is an RSS reader. You add in the feeds / websites / blogs you want to monitor and it grabs the headlines. When you scroll through each headline, if the article interests you, just click on the link to go to the full article. Usually the app or RSS reader allows you to favorite articles to keep.
With RSS feeds from blogs, you'll never miss a post from your favorite blog.
