I have been having this issue for months, the "bloop" sound goes off at totally random intervals, sometimes it happens more often, sometimes it does rarely. And it happens no matter what browser I use, opera, firefox, google chrome, it just could not be more annoying sometimes.

Anyone has encountered this problem? Any idea why this happens and how to get rid of it? Thanks!!

lidowxx, have you tried - control panel - sound - windows explorer - blocked pop-up window ... and set this to none?

I just tested that option, the sound it gives isn't the sound I have been hearing from the browsers. The "bloop" sound coming from the browsers is different and lasts a bit longer. Anyway, thanks for the input.

Try muting all your system sounds. Go into control panel/sounds and set it to No Sounds in the drop down menu. Test to see if the noise goes away. If it does, go back into the control panel and re-enable sounds one by one until you ultimately find the one that's causing you grief.

Meticulous work but it will isolate which notification noise is bothering you. I don't think any of the browsers have inherent sound schemes separate from Windows, so this should do it.
