I have a Asus G53JW-A1 factory installed Home Premium OS 64-Bit. I have been having random lock ups that require a hard reboot or pulling the power completely. There are no BSOD, no pitch black screens or anything, the screen remains exactly as the last thing I was doing before freezing and then I have to hold the power button or pull power to reset it. I run disk cleanup and there are no error files (I have disabled windows error reporting). Are there any software I can download and run to test everything out? I have tried replacing the HDD only to find out it still does it. I am lost, I have a lot of time involved in getting the OS exactly like I wanted it. I have also located a hotfix KB2265716x64 that I tried and it didnt work either. I read that on a forum random Windows 7 lockups. Any idea or help anyone can offer? I have run disk check after rebooting and finds no issues, I have AVG PC Tuneup 2011 and cleaned the bad registry values and it doesn't help either.

Next time it happens do a hard reboot and then after restart go to the Windows Event Viewer. Look if there are any Errors or warnings displayed.

not even close to being all the errors this is OEM install too. -
Are all of the device drivers fully up to date, no third-party 'tweaks' applied, all software properly owned/licensed, etc, etc? Is your CPU properly heat-sinke'd, no dust bunnies in the fan or cooling vents and so on.
Although it's in RC status, the SP1 release for Win7 includes a HUGE pile of request-only fixes (several hundred of which are NOT available through any other channel) that solve random/rare system lockups. It's something to consider if all else fails.
But first get the usual stuff taken care of as per the first paragraph here.
And as long as you are having system problems like this, be sure to take good and regular backups of important user files. -
Additionally, autostarts should be checked (Autoruns from Sysinternals is recommended for that).

I have reinstalled drivers, and did some tweaks after reading articles on Microsoft Technet. Now I am only having three errors that are making me think its the cause. Any suggestions for these three issues?
volmgr error 46 - Crash dump initialization failed!
volsnap error 36 - The shadow copies of volume C: were aborted because the shadow copy storage could not grow due to a user imposed limit.
Disk error 11 - The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk2\DR8 -
I have the EXCACT same problem on my Asus G73JW

I have used a tweak program to clear my pagefile on shutdown, so far no locukups yesturday, not to say it wont but I had a good day. Still testing.

Look at your memory, sounds like something not compatable. My Asus desktop with a P5 motherboard would do that and it was memory not liking the motherboard.
