The asus in sig now runs the fans more then it did on win7 and without any consistency?
When the laptop first starts up a process called antimalware service executable which goes up to 32% cpu usage before simmering down, by just wiggling the pointer I can get windows explorer up to 6.8% usage (though after a restart it only reaches 0.5%) .net runtime optimization service, microsoft search index and microsoft common language runtime will randomly start itself and get the fans going. Just opening chrome and watching youtube does it but eventually goes away even thought cpu usage hasn't changed?

Did win10 change the fan curve or something?
edit: just had the laptop on idle with task manager on and it had system and compressed memory + antimalware service turn on and got cpu usage up to 50% and fans high revving, really don't get it.

edit2: now disk defragmenter kicked on and combined got them up to 75% cpu usage without me even touching it.

@Hayoung if you have Avast, kill avastNG.exe process (or something like that), it may be stuck after updating; if not, there may be a lot of stuff going on - make sure you follow tips from this thread.

Windows will perform some of these tasks after a clean install, or as maintenance. Maybe if you leave it alone and let it finish?

I only use malwarebytes as my scanner which only runs when I tell it, no other anti virus running or scanning.

Yes I know, they have never made this much of a fuss on windows 7.
Not sure why you linked me that as these are microsoft background auto starting processes, nothing browser based.

I've been on windows 10 since November, shouldn't it be sorted by now?

also found someone elses having the same thing happened to them under "similar threads"
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/windows-10-cpu-usage-bug.780522/

He too did an upgrade from 8.1
Guess I'll leave it on idle for the day to let it do its thing, but there's really no rhyme or reason to the fan turning on, even when something big turns on then it settles down to 7% (percentage I tested i doesn't need to run fans) it will keep the fans on.

Maybe try a clean install rather than an upgrade?

Hello Again, Nice pic Lady. :

Did you upgrade thru windows update or use the standalone installer-Media Creation tool, Windows update has had many many problems, it appears not all the files are being downloaded, Media creation tool gets it right the first time. Here is the link:

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

I have done several upgrades thru windows update to windows 10 and they all have been buggy or wont work at all with media creation tool, not a problem.

If you dont want to reinstall everything a new, use system refresh inside windows 10 you have now installed-keeping your personal files, programs ect. this will fix windows 10 by reinstalling the windows 10 core files.

Windows 7 to Windows 10 platform change is rather large in feature changes.

I recommend you purchase a license thru e bay for $20-30 dollars and get Win 10 Pro license if you upgraded to Win 10 Home from Win 7, upgrade is a breeze, simply input win 10 pro license # in Home install in win 10, a small download and you got win 10 pro license activated-thereafter M$ activation server will have your laptop registered and no need input license # again-it will activate pro license automatically on clean installs , ect, after 1 yr Win 10 Home will be $99 and Pro $200 for 1st install. I upgraded 3 laptops this way, less than $30 ea, M$ has relaxed volume licensing requirements to get peeps to win 10, later M$ will tighten up.. :)

    Cheers
    3Fees :)

    I will if this continues.

Yeah I used the windows update, I'll try the system refresh and do a clean install if this still happens.
I feel like it will, I see the antimalware process appear on my desktop too, it just uses less cpu usage because it's a better cpu.
