Hi
I just bought my new laptop about a week ago and transfered files from my previous PC to this one that had infected files on there. So instead of going through exntensive virus/malware/rootkit etc. scans I went ahead and used the recovery disc to re-instal.
I did some reading up about using recovery DVD but I'm still unsure so I'd like some one to confirm if possible.
When installing Vista with a recovery DVD that came with my notebook. Does that restore everything to exactly how when I first recieved my notebook minus the drivers and updates that came seperatly on another DVD?
The reason why I'm asking is because when I re-installed (I think that what I did) I looked at my Hard Drive and noticed (or think I noticed) that the instalation files have doubled?
Currently takes up 18gb of hard drive space.
Can some one confirm to me if this is normal or did it double install on me?![]()
Thanks for posting
Jimmy

What brand of notebook is it? Different companies have different ways of doing restores.

Hey tumnasgt
Sorry for the late reply I just did another re-install.
It's an LG P300 with 250gb hard drive (232gb). I just did a re-install again just to make sure. It takes up nearly 12gb before I start doing updates and installing drivers. Once that is complete total disk space used is 18.4gb.
Thats the same amount of space since the first re-install took. Anyways I'm still unsure if the amount of space that is being used is normal.
Hope some one can fill me in thanks
Jimmy
bwt everything is default settings now when calculating disk space -
I think my Vista Premium was 13 GB out of the box.

thanks glatzfront and with updates and drivers mine went all the way up to 18.4gb.
I thought I had done something wrong and made two installations or something incorrectly.
