I ordered 8GB ExpressCard SSD to use sorely for ReadyBoost.
I have C2D P8600, 2GM RAM, and Samsung 64GB SSD.
How effective ReadyBoost will be? I clean installed and it boots in 15 seconds and shuts down 5-10 sec (I don't know why it varies so much) because boot time is constant from day 1 I formatted. Shut down used to be 5 seconds for few days and ever since I installed Kaspersky, it just varies.
Will ReadyBoost make my computer faster noticeably? Thank you!

Well, better install more RAM instead of anything for ReadyBoost (kinda useless thing IMO). You only have 2 GB, so buy at least 4 GB. Better effect.
-
15 is fast! takes me 70 to start.
-
I'm just confused why shut down speed varies so much. Sometimes it shuts down so fast (5-6 sec), sometimes it takes almost twice. -
If you're already running windows off an ssd the money spent on ready boost is more or less pointless. I second the idea of putting the money into a ram upgrade instead.
-
I already ordered them for $30 (fairly cheap) so it shouldn't be so bad. I think I have 2 1GB DDR3 RAMs so it would cost whole lot more if I were to upgrade the RAMs.

Usually Windows 7 will tell you not to use Readyboost if it is installed on SSD.
-
more ram would be a lot better then using readyboost
when i tried readyboost on my old 2gig lappy it didnt really speed it up at all
that was using a 4gig card -

Readyboost has its uses. Obviously not useful on an SSD install.
I've got a 2gb SD card dedicated for RB on my eee PC that has a maximum of 2gb of RAM. I think any speed benefits are psychological. -
RAM can push way more data than a miserable, glorified memory stick. I would recommend that you get a matching 2GB stick for the module you already have.
-
RB has it uses for a HDD, forget it with a SSD. A good SSD will have much better specs than a SD Card so it essentially is a waste.
You are WAY better off getting more ram................ -
Received it today. It didn't change boot/shut down time but it loads/opens application faster.
Anyway, my slot is bigger than the expresscard SSD. It works though. Was it supposed to be like this? I have Lenovo X200. -
Can it be that your X200 has a expresscard 54 slot but you got a expresscard 34 card?
Everything will work but there will be an empty space at one side.
-
I'm just bothered the amount of dusts it will enter through the empty space. -
Wow these are bit costly for a piece of plastic. The cheapest one I can find on eBay is $10 (with shipping to Hawaii).
