I just brought a new asus w3v and are currently trying to load some new software, I'm having problems with the real player installer and the standard windows update.

When i download the real installer it only run in the back ground, if i alt ctrl del i can see it there but i can get to it.

secondly, when i try to do a windows update i get to the 'checking your PC ' page and it stays there, the green bar is moving but nothing happens.

    Please help me

    Thanks
    B

Real Media is like a virus in that respect. Often very ill behaved. That's why the program RealAlternative exists. If you need to play Real Media, and you can successfully unload Real, I recommend it. There is also QuicktimeAlternative, for those who are tired of Apple's ill behaved POS program.

Yes I use RealAlternative + Quicktime Alternative. It can do almost everything the actual players can do.

There's anotther alternative to Real Player: BBC real player. Real had to make a special edition of the software for the BBC because they wouldn't use their format unless they got rid of all the spyware.

I didn't use RealPlayer at all until I started watching streams that were in the Real Media format.. So far, I have had no troubles with the player at all, but I've got the stripped down basic player (no Rhaspody or whatever).
