Hi guys,
That may seem like a hardware issue but i'm not sure. I have an Asus G53JW RoG notebook and it has a stock Seagate 2.5" 7200 rpm drive. Its model is ST9500420AS with firmware 0003SDM1. The thing i noticed is that it's lacking of showing the "Reallocation Event Count (C4)" entry in SMART menu as i tried CRYSTALDISKINFO, HDTUNE PRO, HWINFO64 etc. It's connected via AHCI interface by default.
I'm attaching the screenshot of available SMART options including unknown(s).
I Googled the net and found some of ST9500420AS models have, and minority of some notebook-generic versions do not.
Thanks for the help!

Try "CrystalDiskInfo" it`s a lot newer.

I did. It also doesn't show Reallocation Event Count attribute, neither. It also shows a "Workaround" option like in the screenshot but i'm not sure whether this option has something to do with the absence of this attribute.

I did a search for ST9500420AS and smart, there seems to be a lot with high reallocation even point.

What does Seagate's own utility ( Seatools) report? Third party utilities often struggle to interpret all of the SMART data correctly.

I see...However i also see that there are some people having no Reallocation Event Count (C4) info also with the same drive, using another notebook. Like in the link below for Sony VAIO:

Another Seagate drive model with no Reallocation Event Count attribute here:

I suspect it's firmware-dependant issue or it's programmed to appear when a value is changed or a drive failure is forecasted by the firmware?
Nope, but i bet it won't differ as CrystalDiskInfo has the same result like HDTune, and i don't think Seatools has a SMART viewer other than basic SMART-checker. And there's a statement here:

Starlight5 Yes, I'm a cat. What else is there to say, really?
@kimiraikkonen you have Reallocated Sector Count and Reported Uncorrectable Errors attributes available - what else is there to ask, really?

Yeah, get an SSD, an 500GB HDD is like £40 it`s not worth the hassle.

I know, yeah you're just. It's just my curiosity here why this SMART attribute (event count) is missing. No annoyance else.
"Reallocation Event Count" SMART info missing on Seagate 2.5" Drive!
