I have a Viewquest Webcam, the model is m318b. I have searched for drivers on driverheaven and even the VQ website for drivers, but whenever it does install, i would plug in the usb and it would say install and then freeze. There is no way around it and it is very frustrating that a perfectly working camera isn't working at all on a new OS..
I have googled endlessly and it just points me to the same sites and links.

Any replies or help would be grately appreciated.

I don't think that your camera is Vista compatible.

    System requirements:
Win 95A, Win 95B, Win 98, Win 98SE, Win ME, Win NT 4.0, Win 2K, Win XP, Win Server 2K3

No, damn the manufacturer of your trusty old webcam for not providing Vista compatible drivers. This is not vista's "fault". Microsoft does not write hardware drivers for other folks hardware, only their own.

Welcome to Windows, where things break when you update ;) It's Microsoft's fault only in that they outsource driver support to the manufacturers, and don't provide a legacy interface or anything, nor to they require the source code. So you're basically out of luck.

There's a reason I like Linux ;) I've got an old HP flatbed scanner that won't even work in Windows XP, but it is great under Linux.
