    I have an Asus F6V-V1

I downgraded to XP SP3, which isn't supported by ASUS.

The last driver I need to have full functionality is Audio.

My computer has a Realtek HD chip. I can install drivers, but cannot have hear any audio. I have read their are issues with HD Audio and SP3, has anyone have got this combination to work, and how?

    Thanks
    Brian

Well, my old Medion only has the standard Realtek Audio, but its 3 years oldany way.

Have you done the standard checks?
Our first laptop has a physical volume control, a little wheel - so, any "magical buttons" to turn/press?

    Then:
Are you sure wave is set to max in the control panel?
(The last time I was wodnering about that on the Medion wave was shut down)

And the obvious one - "Normal sound" is turned on?

I would find a similar version of the Realtek HD driver for window XP (check other laptop brands)

Search the net for XP patch on High Definition Audio (UUA) - you might have to use the patch from another brand, then re.install the Realtek driver.

    cheers ...

So I did install the realtek version from their site. It shows UUA in the registry, and all the audio controls are unmuted. Still no audio.

It has a TPM(Trusted Platform Module). I didn't install software for the this. Could this be blocking my audio?

    It shouldn't...
Which doesn't mean it couldn't be the problem.
Maybe you can ask a moderator to have this moved to the Asus section - it seems like a model specific fault.

SP3 supposedly contains the High Audio Definition patch, but it is not working the way the giving patch under SP2.

Try this, and then reapply your audio driver, ignore the older version message:
