    Hi

I'm having a problem getting the Realtek HD Audio Manager for my soundcard working.

I can install the driver package it comes with but the actual control panel app won't load because it says it's for Vista only.

I wouldn't mind if I didn't need to access it to turn my internal speakers on, I have to change the advanced options so it separates the audio streams otherwise I don't get sound from the onboard speakers, I would RMA the laptop but I'd be without a laptop then...

Currently I'm using the default ones installed they're rubbish, my internal speakers are much louder when using the Realtek drivers and I don't think the subwoofer in the bottom of the laptop is working, or the front 2 speakers, and I don't know how to get them to work, I've looked through the options and can't see a relevant option.

Does anyone have a Realtek HD Audio manager control panel working and if so how did you get it to work?

Thanks in advance for an help on this. :)

The one for my EEE works. I downloaded the it from the Asus Support site and it works fine. In XP there is a cool control pnnel for changing settings, but in 7 it is more integrated with the normal sound panel.

Are you using the ones provided by your laptop manufacturer or ones from realtek.

I've downloaded the one from realteks site and it works fine, not sure if this will help but i uploaded them to megaupload for someone the other day as realteks download speed are terrible:

Yeah I tried the ones from Realteks site and they won't even install.

I have now used the ones fom the Asus drivers disk and they have installed, although I thought I did that this morning as I installed Realtek drivers from somewhere, where eludes me though as I can't find the files on my system anywhere...

I have the control panel now but the options aren't all there (it thinks I don't have speakers) and yet the speakers are working fine, at least they are now that I've changed the advanced options to get them working which was my main concern.

I'll try those ones you've upped to megaupload though to see if they solve the problem I'm now getting with Dolby Control Center - it can't find any valid audio endpoints. Whatever they are...

    Thanks. :)

Try right clicking on the sound symbol on the taskbar, then click the sound symbol at the top. I do that and the "Speaker Properties" menu with all the options opens up.

Ok I got it working fine now.

    Here's what I did.

In order to get the control panel in the first place I had to install the Realtek drivers that are on the Asus drivers disk, I also installed the dolby control center as well, which wouldn't at this point work, but that's not necessary, I just installed it because I want the bass boost function.

That allowed me to use the Realtek HD Audio control panel. I then rebooted because the installer told me to.

Then I used device manager to update the drivers to the Vista_R214 drivers from Realtek (which I assume is where bangert got them from), but I did it so that I browsed for the driver and I selected the folder the drivers are in after extraction and went from there.

Then I rebooted once they'd installed in device manager.

It all works now, the Realtek HD Audio control panel (sound manager, whatever you wish to call the app) now recognises that I have speakers and I can alter all the options and the dolby control center works as well.

If I installed the Vista_R214 drivers using their setup package I get a Realtek HD Audio control panel that doesn't work because I get a dialog box telling me it's Vista only.

Very odd but I'm happy now, I have fully functioning speakers again. yay. :)

Are you having problem with the 64bit version of Win7? Cause on the 32bit version, the XP drivers works for my laptop.

However, if I try to install the 64 bit version, none of the drivers work.

Nope 32 bit version. I tried the XP drivers as well, they wouldn't install either. The above method was the only way that I could get the problem solved.

Glad to hear the issues are all sorted. The R214 drivers listed were from Realtek, but there site is a pain to download from.

It's odd that they wouldn't install straight from the realtek package, as they installed straight away with no issues on my system.

    Alls well that ends well!!!

i've downloaded the drivers for r2.14 and everything works perfectly (surround sound and whatnot), though the program doesn't work for me either. however, i've found that the windows default audio manager works fine as an alternative.

Is there any point in installing the realtek drivers? I have found that the default W7 driver works no different than the realtek drivers did in Vista.

Yes. On my Asus (spec in sig) the two front speakers and the subwoofer didn't appear to be working and the volume was lower than it is with the Realtek drivers, for some reason even on max the Win 7 drivers weren't giving me as loud an output as the Realtek drivers do.

I think I've figured out the limitation of the MS driver for my system (Aopen MiniPC).

I have my desktop speakers plugged in to the headphone jack on the back panel. There is also an optical jack. The optical jack doubles as a speaker output with the realtek driver when using Vista. In W7b with the MS driver the optical jack cannot output analogue sound. This forces me to use the headphone jack which probably outputs a lower voltage signal (meant for headphones) and thus lower sound output.

This doesn't make a difference for me since my desktop speakers will still go way louder than I need them to.

Anyone got internal mic to work in Windows 7 with realtek drivers?

I have Realtek ALC882, and using R2.14, sound works perfectly, but i cant get internal mic to work no matter what, i tried so many different versions, even set the boost to max.

sound doesnt even work with Win7 default driver.

Yeah mine works ok. At least on input it's showing that it's recording. But I've got the ALC663 codec.

I'm having more trouble with audio IN than out. My internal mic is totally not there (w7 can't find it) and I can't install the Realtek drivers (I tried XP drivers from Acer as well as 3 different drivers from Realtek's site). For some reason I can't use the built-in mic on my webcam (Logitech) but the $.02 headset I've had for the last 10 years is working. Go figure. Audio out is a little wonky, as the Windows audio manager says that my speakers are headphones and vice versa. Since it's all working, I'll just call that a little annoying.

I figured out how to get internal mic working!

    open Realtek HD Audio Manager

on the upper right, click on "Device advanced settings"

    select "seperate all input jacks"

Set "Microphone" to your default device instead of "Mic in at rear panel (pink)"

Might want to go to control panel>Sound and set mic boost all the way up, mine was way too low.

I've installed the realtek drivers but nothing is working. I've "accidentally" disabled my audio driver (I'm really pissed at that), and there is no more sound icon on the bottom right corner of my windows. The reason I did this stupid move was because there was no sound at all when I installed 7. But I do see there are sound wave pattern shown in the sound icon area, but just no sound out of the speakers. When I clicked managed sound etc in the control panel, it says that no audio drivers are installed (even after the installation of both Realtek HD, and AC'97 drivers). Anyone with this difficulty?

Where did you guys got the Realtek HD Audio manager, all i got is the driver.

Edit: Partially fixed it.. I can hear the windows sound but yet not my media player. Tryin a restart. I solved my problem by taking out my XP driver disc, put in compatibility mode for XP and tada!

There are new vista AND W7 drivers for some audio controllers on the Realtek site posted a couple of days ago. I just downloaded mine (for AC97).

    Thanks for the head's up.

New version for HD Audio as well, but only for Vista/XP (no W7 yet)

    EDIT:
Correction, the HD Audio driver is for W7 as well (stated in the change log).
