After updating my system to WIN7 Ultimate 64 bit I have the issues with quality of sound of Realtek ALC262. The quality of the sound is rather low comparing to Vista, the sound stutters for ca. 0,5 s quite often. I tried lot of Realtek drivers, (now I have the newest ones), but no improvements at all. Vista 32 bit gives good sound quality. Any ideas?

make sure that all of your drivers from chipset to disk controller to usb to audio are fully updated.

you've also not told us what kind of machine you have nor other loaded software.

for example; if you have other software that is loading/overloading your machine, it is natural for things like audio/video playback to be adversely affected. Or if your chipset and/or disk controller drivers are old/bad, the same thing can happen.

To immediately blame audio drivers for audio problems when there are so many other variables that affect system performance isn't wise.

After installing the newest Intel chipset drivers, quality of sound is significantly better ,the most important is the stutterings of sound almost disappear.

Yes, all drivers are the latest. Now it is much better, but "the effects" (lags, stutterings) appear occasionally. Strange, on Vista such problems do not exist...

I've noticed that some realtek drivers gave me more crackling than others. After some research, I'm using the R170 version...not the newest, but it's working considerably well for me, with a few crackling.

I'm trying to discover what is the cause of this, since the crackling only occurs when playing music, others sources of audio runs smooth.

I'm using the newest drivers 2.46, these "effects" (stutterings, cracklings) appear quite seldom when you use eg. WMP to listen to music. But it seems to me they are more frequent, when you use web browser and you listen to music on youtube for instance... It is strange to me because on Vista and XP everything runs flawlessly... Till this moment the problem has been not solved... Lucretio, on Polish WIN7 forum, some guys also mentioned about using the older version of drivers (upto 1.85), but in fact it is not the sollution of the problem...

Same here, I'm using Windows 7 64 with Realtek 2.46 drivers, and I'm getting crackling on the log in sound sometimes but not always. I also get it when watching some HD movies.
