OK. Well. This Thread is sort of just a way of expressing my anger. (Instead of taking a sledge hammer to my computer, and Bill Gates.)
Been using my computer with XP for a while now, and thought maybe it would be fun to, O say, maybe try out the "Wow", aka Windows Vista.
My computer only has 1gb of ram, so i decided to test out my computer with the Windows Upgrade Advisor, which told me that my computer could run Vista with all its glory. So, i thought, awesome! I popped Vista Ultimate on my machine, and then noticed that i only had the basic LAME Vista Basic theme, when i damn well got the Premium Version. I thought, well, maybe just needs a driver install. Actually i was quite sure of it, however, i went to the Intel Website ( I have basically a GMA 900) and couldn't find drivers for Vista.. so i was like wtf? That damn Upgrade thing said that there would be no issues.
Then, i google'd for the drivers, and found out that in fact, my Video Card was NOT Vista Compatible......
So, that make me a little upset, to say the least.
Then i figured out a way to get the XP drivers to work, to just let me play, o say, the original Halo. Installed ok. Launched the game ok. Decided to head online. joined a game. fired one shot.... BAM!!! BSoD!!!
Rebooted.... BAM BSoD...
Rebooted....BAM! ANOTHER BSoD!!!!!!
So, i was like.. well maybe just these rigged drivers... Giving Vista, YET ANOTHER, excuse.
Note: I had used Vista alot before this, and had nothing but issues, but hoped SP1 would fix it.......it DIDNT!
So, then, today. (Note: I had AVG anti-virus installed) I went to "My Document", noticed there was a really strange folder that i didn't put there. I opened it, just to see if i had forgotten about something. the folder was empty... I though. hmm... Virus?
Opened AVG, scanned... Nothing...
then, i go back to "My Documents".... and it is empty.......
i just about *crapped* myself....
No, that cant be right...
Checked again....
still nothing...
checked again...
still nothing...
WTF!?!?!
So, now im paranoid... download Avira, and make it scan too...
Nothing...
then SuperAntiSpyware....
nothing...
So... now im like wtf....
Also, take a look at a screen i took of Notepad.. i was editing HTML...

ya, Thomas got it from me...
So, basically... im just saying... that I hate Micro$oft...
Im gonna install Ubuntu back on the ol' beast...
My next computer will DEFINITELY be an APPLE!!
Notice: How many lame issues do you ever see people having on nbr, with an apple computer than a PC...
I'm just sick of it...
Alot more has happened that i wont take the time to tell you... but, take my advice, and try to stay far far away from the M$ Hell...
Macs may cost more money, but in the long run, repairing your computer will cost you TIME AND MONEY.
I know theres probably gonna be a big debate now... just sharing my experience with you all, because there are alot of people on here looking for opinions and reviews. This is my quick summary of Vista.![]()
Ya, im sure theres gonna be all kinds of smart butt responses.....

Man you seemed to be really pissed with windows..
Most people get over it, most don't.. -
LOL...
I liked Vista.
But then, same as you, one issue.
One program, pidgin, open, 100% CPU usage, no viruses, nothing.
I was mad to say the least. -
This belongs in Off-topic, moved.

It sounds like you're pretty peeved eyepwnaull. Stories like your's are why I have never used Vista. And probably never will
-
People, it's only going to get worse. Haven't you heard that Windows 7 is going to just be more fat sloppy code added on top of Vista? If you think Vista is bad, just wait until you try Windows 7, if you dare.
-
I already switched to Ubuntu so i'm fine, Linux is the perfect OS for me, even if i have to build it from source i still love it. I might give Windows 7 a try in a VM though.
-
Lol, Windows 7 is the very bottom of my list. Im so sick of Vista, this post is actually from a psp. xD
-
I have XP on my two laptops and I've had no viruses and no problems. Yesterday at work on my lunchbreak I was playing Diablo 2 on my Vista Enterprise work machine.
-
Ummmm....if you haven't noticed this is a "rant" thread, not an M$ fanboy thread!
-
I'm not a MS fanboy.
-
I was j/king with you!
-
Jedisolo, this is mainly geared towards Vista. and im really happy that you can play a game that i can max on my 7 year old thinkpad w/ 128mb ram.............................. Yet again via psp.
-
Sorry just a little tired.

When Microsoft first put the Vista Adviser thing on the site I ran a check to see if my computer could handle it. It said it would run perfectly, except I won't be able to burn DVD's (only have a CDRW). I didn't believe them (why I'm still using XP)
.
At the time I was running my Celeron M360 w/ 512MB of RAM.
The advisor just tells you that so you pay for it!
(BTW use EditPadPro for HTML editing. Much better than notepad.) -
Me too... its 2 here. lets go nitey nite. lol I am. Nite guys and gals.
-
'night pal, I'm getting ready to call it a day as well.
-

Thread is now closed to prevent a flamewar and further OT comments.
Vista has pleased(and annoyed) a lot of user, so please do your own research to find both the postive and negative aspects of Vista(note: on top of the forum is a sticky will suggestions on how to improve Vista's performance and get rid of some of its annoying features).
@eyepwnuall:
If you want to make a new thread to discuss ways to make Vista work/perform better on your laptop or buying an Apple laptop, then go ahead. If you just want to make a thread that encourages non-productive discussion, then I advise you not to do so.
