Ah, it is because they started to include optional adware in their installer.
Check this out: https://support.jdownloader.org/Knowledgebase/Article/View/31/0/adware-during-installation
Hope that helps, sorry for the inconvenience.eTinderbox (UK) likes this. -

I tried it but it would not hand over from Firefox 64 to the stand-alone downloader.

I did not get you when you said handover from firefix 64. Ant downloadmanager is another Download manager which has free version also.

Free download manager is good enough. Or try Downthemall or turbo download manager

Spend the 20 something dollars for a lifetime license for Internet Download Manager and be done with it.
If you can't afford that you really shouldn't own a computer or be on the internet, because you obviously can't also really afford them either.Vasudev likes this. -
There are free ones too. I recently tried Uget after downthemall addon stopped working on FF57 quantum. Really great Download manager. You install their addon and their package or setup file you're done.

I was going to buy "Internet Download Manager" it`s 1 year or lifetime warranty, So i though i would get the lifetime.
So i clicked on the link to buy, And it said, 3 year updates only, further updates at a reduced cost, How the hell is that lifetime license,
Firefox/Chrome are constantly updated and the IDM plugin constantly has to be updated every couple of months which means downloading the lastest version of IDM.
