I'm running XP and want to have the vista look. I have read that changing XP to the Vista skin brings a lot of gliches and bug, and will actually slow down the PC's performance due to eating a considerable amount of your RAM space. Plus, some real disadvantaghes include the incompatibilities of some drivers, softwares, slow internet access and downloading; and redundant receiving of error messages from systems files. Do you think it's worth the change? Is there any Vista theme I can download for my xp that is safe, no CONS, bug and glich free? What would you recommend? Should I just stick to XP?

Really need help here. Thanks :)

The core is the same (Windows XP) so software will be compatible still. But yes, it will eat up resources, cause your computer to boot slower, etc.

What are the minimum requirements for a fast, bug, and glich free XP with the vista transformation pack installed?

xp will still be "bugfree", but the ui will have glitches, as no transformationpack is perfect.

just get the real thing.. get vista or win7 and experience the real "transformation". if you can..

Running Vista would mean I have to reformat my PC, right? Like, putting the vista installation discs upon boot-up? That's quite tedious and time-consuming :(

So you'd recommend me to stick to XP than suffer the consequences of a vista transformation pack?

yes. the transformation pack is still xp, with some random added and ripped visual clues from vista, hacked together. it's no professional work.

install vista, reformat your pc, fall in love, realise how low the amount of "tedious and time consuming" really is. that's the best thing.

but else, just stick with xp the way it is.

He means that a clean install is not as bad as you think it is.

Anyway just wait for Win7. No point getting Vista at this point.

except if he has a licence and has deleted the installation of it. then he has vista for free and doesn't know it yet. good moment to change.

and espencially good moment to learn how much of the hype of seven is just vista, too.

If you still feel an uncontrolable need to 'transform' XP, download Royal Noir for XP, it's a Microsoft build black color.
It will only somewhat decently change the color from blue to black, nothing spectacular but it won't mess up your XP install like some transformation packs can (can, not will).
With Royal Noir, there is no need to patch UXTheme.dll and stuff.

    - what do you mean by "stardock"? Is that a website where I can download a bug and glich-free vista transformation pack?

-Thanks! I really like the Royal Noir! it's better than what I expected. Alas, I don't need a vista transformation pack anymore! (^^,)

You could just use an upgrade disk.

Does running an update disk consume the same amout of time like reformatting? What exactly do you mean by an "upgrade disc"?
