    Hi,

I have a NAS that I need to backup. However I dont want the format to be some specific format that backup programs usually include. This also means that the backup is uncompressed which is alright - but it has to be incremental!

So basically what I'm after is an incremental copy utility. Does anyone know of a good utility / application for this need that is recommendable?

Check the Seagate site - their installed backup programs that come with their externals are incremental and you can probably find one that will work on yours.
Check the Dowloads area and then the Network Storage Drives.

Can you remember what the application is called - or just some hint to its name? There are several big software packages for any NAS at their site (Naspack, Vista, MediaCenter).

I've used XCOPY and ROBOCOPY for backups in the past. I have a new DLink NAS and its file system doesn't play nice with either of these. What happens is that I can change a half dozen files, run a new backup, and these programs will want to copy a lot of files that clearly never changed. Probably caused by the difference in precision of the saved dates. I found a new program called ALLWAYSYNC and it works great. It can figure out what really changed and only copy those files.
