I also have a recommendation for sidebar software:

    Windows Sidebar Styler

This program allows you to change many aspects of sidebar including buttons, skins, and more

Not really, you've listed most of the good ones. The only ones i can think of are the gadgets by Accuweather.

I would like one that pulls the tasks from OutLook (as created and maintained on my PDA by PocketBreeze/PocketInformant) and displays them. I've only been able to find SideBar Gadgets that pull the Appointment data from OutLook.

You can get a system monitor gadget, but i think you have to run something else for it to read off of.

I dug this one up and it replaced other seperate ones doing the same thing. It runs along with rmclock, but i removed that part of it from within the code, as i dont like running rmclock for just the thrill :) I also removed the power scheme buttons from mine since those only work by using them with rmclock.

i especially like that battery one b/c unlike others, it shows you estimated battery time remaining so you dn't have to constantly keep scrolling over the little system icon and having to wait like 2 secs for it to pop up

Seriously? Wow...its not hard to make for those skilled developers...I wonder why no one's made one.

Not to be "pro-Mac" in any way, but OS X has had temperature widgets since Dashboard was released with Tiger in 2005...

Oh, and nice thread you've got going here, v3loc1ty2.0. Enjoy the sig :).

Doesnt work on mine, or my buddies HP notebook either. You just reminded me about this. I wanted to read some of the code and see where its calling the temp from. I tried running everest to see if it was gonna pull it from there, but i forgot :)

You can go in options and remove it from the view.
You can empty the recyle bin from the gadget.
I think its the best most compact version of system stuff ive found.

Great gadgets v3loc1ty2.0 and great thread!!

I found one or two at Extremetech.com that interested me:

    Clipboard History
allows you to manage your clipboard files

    Sphere Timer
is a digital clock for Vista with alarm, timer, a countdown and even a lap timer!

and last but nost least: Panda Cam displays a live broadcast of the Panda cage at the San Diego Zoo instead of the picture slide show. Awesome :p I really wish they did something like that for the Nurburgring instead.. But i'll be happy with a Panda for now :p

edit: Two more for the paranoid amongst you from About.com

AlertCon displays the current risk of important email viruses or worms on the net. Refreshes every 60 minutes directly from the ISS site.

Terror Alert Level is linked to the Department of Homeland Defence and displays the current likelihood of terrorist attacks.

The reason for this is actually quite easy, all macs have very specific hardware requirements. They are all exactly the same. But PC and other notebooks vary greatly in the hardware they use.

Part of that hardware is the tempature monitors, it could have diffrent monitors or even none at all. So it would be incredibly hard to have one program that knows which if any monitors to use and how to read them.

You will notice some programs try like everest, or speed fan ect that read temps but you will also notice usually between your computer bios, and one program and the next you get different readings just because of that reason I mentioned.

One program gives me like 8c different than the next even tho they are both the same kind.

I saw the same page, I use both the clipboard manager and the timer. Best looking clock IMO and has an alarm.

The clipboard program crashes from time to time on me tho.

Could anyone recommend me a good countdown timer gadget. The one I'm currently using isn't working so well for me. The text is too small and the countdown seems to be off. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Sphere Timer is decent. The UI is a little rough around the edges but it's ok once you get used to it. You can drag it off of the dock to make the text bigger.

You could get an RSS reader gadget (such as Feed Reader) and then plug in any RSS feeds you want.
