I'm not sure where this fits on this board, but here's what I'm trying to do. I work in PR/communications. Our local TV stations often run news pieces on thier websites as streaming video after they've aired. Is it possible to 1)capture streaming video to the hard drive and then 2) burn it to DVD from there? How? What software/hardware would be needed?

Alternately, assuming I have a computer with media center edition and a tv tuner, could I then record the actual newscast to the hard drive and from there to DVD? Would Media Center Edition O/S be necessary to do that?

These would be for archiving only, so copyright shouldn't be a problem.

Any thoughts/comments very welcomed. Our computer guy at work actually knows less than I do (I was shocked to hear he doesn't know what DOS is. I guess that's what you get in the nonprofit world!)

Windows Media Recorder will record streaming video...it's not free though. Also, if you have a TV tuner, you can save tv to your HD and then burn it...don't need MCE to do it.
