    Hi guys,
I tried to create bootable usb of windows 7, and accidently, i choose my external hard drive

    Select Disk 1
    Clean
    Create Partition Primary
    Select Partition 1
    Active
    Format FS=NTFS

I stopped at 0% formatting. Is there a way to recover my data? Right now, I cannot see my hdd. I have to go to computer->management to see it. It's right now as RAW.

    PLS HELP!

    You need an unformat program.

I can't think of any good free ones off the top of my head. Besides Hiren's bootCD.

Leaving it set to 'active' won't cause any problems, just make sure that your primary HD is first in the boot order.

If you really want to set it to 'inactive' see below:

Open a command prompt as administrator (Right click, Open as Admin, or Ctrl+Shift+Click)

Get the drive number of the external USB HD by typing:

    diskpart
list disk (Example, let say the Ex. USB was 1)

    select disk 1
    select partition 1
inactive (which is making the partition inactive on the USB HD)
    exit
    exit
