Hi, I just got done unpacking and setting up my VAIO SR... And as recommended in the manual, want to make some recovery disks. So I went to:

Start -> Help and Support -> Backup and Recovery

From what I can tell the only way to make recovery disks is "Windows Complete PC Backup". But... It's only for Business and Ultimate users, and I have Home Premium. How should I make backup disks that will retain all stock configurations and settings, and not only Windows?

I just want to have a out-of-the-box backup since Sony doesn't provide any.

    Thanks!

click on the start menu -> all programs -> and then look for "vaio recovery center"

and then you can make your recovery discs there..

seems like the Recovery Discs are the same no matter when you do it? i mean, it just takes the recovery partition. I don't understand why they don't just make and include the discs in the package. How much money can they save this way - it's just a few cents?

i know, it's really stupid... now they put a recovery partition on our laptops and take up GBs of space
