I just recovered my backup from another computer to my new laptop and chose the option: Put files back in original locations.
The problem is that it didn't work properly and some files must have gone to the Recovery partition. Now this partition is almost full and I am getting the nagging message: Recovery Partition running out of space over and over...
Is there a way see the files in that partition? Then I may be able to see which files don't belong there and move them. Or is it possible to re-partition the volume to add more space?

Well, you can go to (in Vista) "organize" - "folder and search options" - and show system files as well as hidden files - then you can try to use the "last modified date" to find new files.
However there is a risk that you delete required files. -
I'm running Windows 7 (see my sig for other specs). The problem is that when I click on the volume, it won't let me see the content.
Is there any way to make the contents of the volume visible? -
Well, what I said above...
Or do you mean it hasn't got a drive letter assigned?
You could assign it one, however I do NOT know how you could then go back... -
Some recovery partitions are EISA configuration partitions. I wouldnt do that unless you understand the consequences.
-
Yes there is a drive letter. But when I open it, I don't see anything to click on: just a message saying that I don't have access to the files. There is no way to see the files!

Have you tried turning off UAC and accessing drive as administrator.
-
Have you tried re-doing the backup recovery that didn't work correctly the first time?
-
This is what the drive letters look like:
This is what I get When I click on "RECOVERY(D)":
This is what I get When I click on the folder:

When I right click on it, I don't get the option "Run as Admin"

Hmm, that doesn't help... apparently somehow HP locked it down... if you click on the text I assume nothing happens?
...displaying text instead of the folder vie in Explorer... if you knew how this is done you could bypass it.. -
I just used the option "Compress this drive to save space". I saved almost 100 MB that way. Now it's still in the red, but I don't get the nagging message anymore.
I hope that won't interfere with any future recovery. If so, I'll use the recovery discs.
