    Hi there

I bought a Lenovo N200 laptop a month ago,and it came with Windows Vista Business pre-installed,i got no windows DVD with the laptop, and i found out there was a hidden 5 GB partition in my harddrive which appreantly(after finding out in this forum) contains a recovery that re-sets factory state...

My question is..Is there anyway i can create a DVD with these recovery files??If yes, will that be considered a Vista DVD?

    And sorry another unrelated question...

I've read threads here talking about start-up times, people talking about starting their laptops in 40 secs..50 secs..60 secs...

I've done most of the tweaks mentioned in the threads to decrease starting time, yet it takes me from the moment i push the power button till all programs are loaded around 3 mins :S...Anyone knows what the problem might be?
It takes around 40-50 secs for the Windows vista Orb to appear(the one after it keeps loading the windows and before it logs me in to the desktop)..is that normal??

Sorry if my questions are not clear or repeated.

    Thanks in advance :)

For the startup time, you should take a look at the Event Viewer to search for specific errors.

Also, please wait at least 24 hours before bumping. Forum rules

Thanks John for ur reply :)

And i apologize if i was a lil impatient,i didn't read the forum rules until you pointed it out, thanks 4 that :)

Hope someone can help with the other issue as well soon :)

Also i'm not sure what exactly i should be looking for in the Event Viewer? What errors can possibly increase my start-up time to 3 mins..?

Two suggestions. First, do you have any mapped drives that are set to reconnect at startup? This can be a source of slow downs/pause on booting. Second have you tried defragging and reorganizing the bootfiles on your machine. Vista has a built in task for this, BUT it never runs for many folks because they don't allow their machines to be idle long enough for it to kick in. See my signature line below for a explanation on how to force this task to run.

Thanks for that link as well John!! It explained alot.

But (and bear with me please) this link showed me how to allocate the errors and my startup time is (average) 140-160 secs(which i guess doesn't include the time since i press the power button till processes starts loading). And ok,now i found the errors,so how can i fix them? lol

Like for example it says :

Dwm.exe (desktop window manager) took longer than usual to start up

    Or
bmgr32.exe (Boot Manager Interface Program) took longer than usual to start up

So yeah i know now what is causing the problem, but how can i fix it?

First you should check for System errors:

Sort them out by date and try finding errors that happened at the time you started your computer.
