Not sure if this is the correct forum for this, but I thought it would be the best. I've noticed an issue with the display on my Inspiron 1721 that's bothering me. Most reds, like shiny paint jobs on cars or whatever else, are really blotchy and kind of distorted. I'm not sure how to describe it, other than they just look really muddy, not crisp and clear like other colors. I'm not sure if there's a way to fix this via some kind of color adjustment, or if it's an issue with my display itself. Has anyone else ever had this problem, or could someone possibly point me in the right direction to fix it? Thanks!

Are you running Vista or XP? The first thing I would check would be the colour depth (under XP, right-click on the desktop, click on properties, then click on settings, and make sure the "Colour Quality" is on "Highest (32 bit)"). It's been a while since I used Vista, so I don't recall how to get to this setting within Vista.

You might also try updating your drivers.

Try adjusting your gamma. I know Adobe has a program called AdobeGamma that works well-there may be others.

Start with Eleison's idea that is exactly what I thought (from the same thing happening to me) then go to others. I can't comment on others because I don't know. If you have an external monitor and still have problems you could plug in and see if problem carries over to rule out screen problem.

I checked my display setting, I am at 32 bit color.
