I would love to reduce the number of processes running on my computer. Within 10 minutes after startup I've about 90 processes running...

I've been in MSCONFIG to deactivate everything possible but I would like to get my number of processes even lower.

How can I do that ?

MSCONFIG, taskschd.msc, and services ( reference).

Vista Home Premium (SP1) consistently runs fewer than 50 processes on my notebook.

With a few things running Im seeing 69. The ultimate fix is a fresh install.

If you're happy with your computers performance then it's perfectly fine. It's more than average by a lot, if it doesn't harm you why change it?

More Driver Applications and Application Software (enabled to boot alongwith windows) --> More Processes at startup.

One can easily disable unwanted and unnecessary startup items, without messing up the system.

Verify your apps - some (many) of them spawn multiple processes while there are active (perfect example is norton antivirus). Replace them with something less "processes" hungry, if you can

    cheers ...

Run Windows Defender > Tools > Software Explorer > Startup programs > Show for all users. It gives you a little more info than msconfig, and sometimes shows other programs too.

Disable anything from Apple, Adobe, or Yahoo. Disable stuff from your OEM too (lenovo I guess).

Also, post a screenshot here of your Task Manager, processes tab, with the description field showing.
