I had looked at the Iobit SmartDefrag but couldn't find much in the way of user reviews. I'm using AusLogics Disk Defrag at present. However, I've been so impressed with AWC that SmartDefrag would probably be worth a look.

I'm definitely VERY impressed with AWC! I recently loaded it on my XP laptop, and it works really well. I'm loading it on my new Vista computer, as well as CCleaner (I was thinking about Spybot too...but I'm not sure) first thing! I was thinking about loading SmartDefrag too, but Windows has a defragmenter, so why use another program to do it? Are there any advantages?

Has anyone tried IObit smart Defrag? How would it compare to the heavy hitters that you have to pay for like perfect disk and such?

Yea, i'm using the smartdefrag, can't be too much help tho on reviewing it. I've never used the bigger ones. But SmartDefrag seemed to have sped the comp up quite a bit after using it.

I tried iobit's defrag but I was not impressed. Using OO2000 or auslogic and, most recently, Power Defragmenter instead.

    are those free?

Also, my dads 2003 dell is running EXTREMELY slow. Its running XP. I used the advanced windows care personal on it last night and it found a TON of stuff wrong. It seemed to have sped up the comp a decent amount but is stilll running slow. Also defragged with iobit. Isn't there some program called like TweakXP? Do you guys think this will help speed it up decently? What other recommendations do you guys have?

yes, all of those mentioned are free. Your dad'd dell may have just not enough memory (<512M).
