    Me too.

CCleaner gets false hits on my synaptics touchpad.

Registry cleaners typically do not do anything for system performance or fixing system bugs. They are seriously a waste of... everything.

    Depends.

On older XP they can help, and after something got messed up on one old Medion laptop (my mother's) which resulted in constant HDD access, a registry cleaner fixed the fault.

But overal - I have to agree with Bog.
    Especially under Vista.

Unless you have a fault, its not recommended to use a registry cleaner.

Also: Any cleaner you use, it is adviseable to read every entry, and if in doubt, leaving it rather than removing it.

I used "Registry Mechanic" earlyer but, as Bog say typically do not do anything for system performance or fixing system bugs.

I too don't recommend a registry cleaner. I did that before and some programs wouldn't run afterwards. I had a feeling that it had deleted some entries that it though wasn't suppose to be there. And this includes Auslogics and CrapCleaner.

Some software is also allergic to Registry Cleaners - HP scansoftware under XP was (is?) an example - you had to completely reinstal the OS, else there was no way to get the "save as pdf" going again....

    hhmmm

i've used them for years and years. Just back up your registry before cleaning, or create a "restore point".

The one I recommend to clients is Advanced SystemCare. There's a free version and a Pro version. The free version does a great job. In the preferences, you can set it up to always create a restore point when you start the program, or before cleaning.

Advanced SystemCare 3--> Free Version- Click Here

I've used it for over 1 1/2 years with on Vista x64 w/ no problems at all. The Pro version is also def worth buying.
