    Hi All,

I have a 1810TZ and I'm trying to install a new SSD drive. However, I'm not sure how I get Windows 7 on to it.

This is what I plan to do, can someone please tell me if this will go wrong.

    Partition a USB Drive

Copy and Paste a DVD copy of Windows 7 that I have for my desktop

What I'm worried about is the lack of Acer Win 7 disk, will I be able to use my other one and just input the code on the security sticker?

    Help would be so appreciate.

    Thank You

    Alex

Perhaps just clone the original drive to the ssd with Migrate Easy 7 demo. Just hook the ssd to USB, boots into Windows and run the software. The Windows on the ssd should be identical w/o the need to reactivate.

I'm relocating this topic into the Windows forum; it's more relevant, and the Windows forum folk would know a lot more about this.

    Yes.

    Microsoft Store Online

Use that tool to "burn" your install disc into USB stick. During install, use the key on the bottom to activate and everything goes fine.

You could use ABR tool (search forum for info) to backup and restore activation from your current installation. Both methods work just fine, it's up to you which one you prefer.

If your 1810TZ came with Windows 7 preinstalled, just use ABRBETA to backup your Windows 7 activation. Install Windows 7 with the DVD/Usbstick you have and subsequently restore the activation with ABRBETA.
Missing drivers you can get from ACER Support and Download.

Edit: Didn't notice that ABRBETA was alreay mentioned!

Do a clean install, then load all the drivers.

Google the full win 7 sp1 iso version of windows 7 originally installed by acer on your laptop-license shows what it is ,download it-then burn it to DVD/CD and then input the license number, when that time in install happens.

Windows 7 will configure your ssd automatically.

After updating, no unidentiifed hardware in device manager- then use windows 7 backup and restore to back up your installation to usb 2.0 disk drive,,your good to go.

If your running an intel chipset,, load latest INF from intel after reaching the desktop on first complete boot-then load all drivers,,graphics, mouse, ect.

If your new to this--cowboy up , I did it on my own the first time by writing down instructions on clean install,,worked like a charm, no problems.. When in doubt ask questions.. :)

    Cheers
