My computer has been acting up a bit latley, I have run all the basic checks (AVG, Ad-aware, Spybot, CCleaner) and nothing has been found but, it just doesn't seem to be running like it used to, so I am contemplating a clean install (well factory settings rest I guess is more accurate).

Anyway, I have office 2007 installed on my machine (only program I paid for, student discount deal :)) and I am wondering if Microsoft will deem my reinstalled copy of office illegal and not allow me to get updates for it. How will Microsoft know that I did a clean install and installed on the same machine? As opposed to installing on a second machine?

I guess my question boils down to, if I do a clean install can I reinstall office on the same machine and still have it be a legal copy (I am pretty sure the answer is yes) and will I be able to down load updates?? Thanks.

Yes, but you will have to activate your copy again.

    Yes and Yes.

Btw just for your info, Office 2007 SP1 is out which you might want to install instead of individual updates.

    Sp1 Download link !

Thanks for the answers everyone, I figured the answer was yes but, I wanted to be sure before I did anything.

Also, how do I know if Office 2007 SP1 has downloaded automatically?

I have done it before. Reinstalling Office 2007 is fine and it's not an infringement of copyright.

Or check your update history under the Windows Update system panel.
