I have checked other forum posts on this topic of Vista running slower after reinstall. But it seems my laptop is less stable now too :/

FOr instance, when the screen darkens to ask for administration clearance (like changing settings) it now stutters into the darkened screen going blank, shows it for a bit, blank and then comes up to the darkened screen(which should have just faded in nicely ...

I have updated the drivers, i think, but it seems to run slower in general, i see the loading icon more and i remember the speed is was when i first got itv(no tweaks), and it was definately faster.

Run windows update...and give it time because superfetch is probably "learning" again.

You need to follow the Clean Install and Tweaking threads to a tee. In every situation I have addressed or assisted with, their has always been something somewhere not followed. Some big ones are not installing the best video drivers properly or shutting down incorrect processes is always big.

In fact, even today i did an installation and after shutting down a number of windows processes, my wifi would not start on its own. On trying to repair it, I got the message "Turning on Wireless Device". I had to put all my processes back to default and reinstall the wifi driver. I then again shut down the exact same processes...alls fine.

EDIT: Sure am glad Im not that Flamenko guy ehehe

    Go figure.

I also did a clean install

How will we know that superfetch is working? I just cleaned my services and now my boot ime is slower since i cleaned the prefetch. When will it be faster?

I don't touch my prefetch but thats a personal choice. If you deleted it, it will take a bit to set itself up once again.

You could also try some different graphics drivers.

I've followed the steps in the Tips and Tweaks guide on 3 personal machines, and 2 machines at work. Machines run flawlessly

Same here. My clean install with Les or Flamenko is a lot faster.

Yes, we all bow down to his prowess! =D

...just believe what the man says, I resisted doing another clean install for several weeks, trying to find an alternative, if you do it like he says, "to a T" then you will come off conquerer.
